Software Engineering Manager

Our client, a fast growing global organisation, is looking for a Software Engineering Manager responsible for the software development department in Europe. You will be tasked with managing and further growing the 15+ person domain focused team. You will manage their delivery to time and budget, maintain a clear project / feature delivery roadmap for the domain in consultation with the Business Stakeholders and provide an opportunity for the Delivery team to successfully deliver to business expectations.

Responsibilities

• Manage a delivery team, including line management, professional development, and performance reviews.
• Manage the project / feature roadmap for your team’s domain, aligned with the business priorities.
• Manage the delivery of the projects / features and maintenance items, including budget management.
• Create and maintain good working relationships with business and technical stakeholders.
• Manage business stakeholder expectations through clear and accurate communication.
• Collaborate with Technology team members within your team and across other teams to deliver outstanding results for our business stakeholders.

Requirements

• Graduate or post-graduate qualifications (or equivalent industry professional experience) in relevant field such as Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science with extensive experience in platform and systems engineering
• Extensive/ relevant of deep Subject Matter Expertise delivered to internal or external clients in two or more technology domains (systems engineering, software engineering)
• > 5 years experience in developing and delivering technology solutions to large and medium sized enterprise organisations, either as an external adviser or internal resource
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders – internal and external customers
• Experience in developing and delivering highly-available and innovative platforms supporting business products.
• Comprehensive understanding of software delivery cycles.
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure (Azure and/or AWS).
• Basic understanding of modern technology concepts e.g., REST API, CI/CD, Infra-as-Code, NoSQL, Container Orchestration.
• Ability to manage delivery concurrently across multiple teams and projects / features.
• Good stakeholder management and managing business expectations.
• Strong communication skills in English.
